Please introduce yourself and what you currently do.
My name is Allie Fundaro, and I am currently a freshman at the College for Creative Studies (CCS) majoring in animation. A fun fact about myself is that I enjoy creative writing and playing ukulele in my spare time!
How has the Blair F. Collings scholarship impacted your educational journey?
This scholarship will help me a lot. The College for Creative Studies is lovely, but not cheap. Any additional money helps me feel I can make the most of my experience rather than skipping out on classes I’d like to take but would hesitate due to overloading my schedule. With this scholarship, I can take some classes outside of CCS to make room for the ones I really want to take at CCS without accruing as much financial burden. It also means I can work less hours and spend more time studying.
What is your advice to students who are interested in applying for the current Blair F. Collings Scholarship Program for 2024?
My advice for this scholarship, as with any, is to just be honest on the writing prompts. You can think outside of the box, or perhaps you have something very personal to share, but the more honest you are, the easier it will be to write. Write how you would tell it to someone while talking to them and edit out parts that are a bit too informal or repetitive. I find it’s the easiest way to go about it.
